Box Office Monday!

Well it isn't quite on the level of "The Dark Knight" but it's certainly good enough to take the day. "Inception" jumped into the summer action with a strong $60 million total, pushing last week's champ "Despicable Me" to second while Disney's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" stumbled, fell, and was shot on the track just outside the gate. Can we stop making these Nicholas Cage, cookie cutter action movies now? Please? The real story for "Inception" will be what happens next week. Obviously it's going to drop off the first week total because every movie does. But with the strong word of mouth this movie is getting (my review is coming but in short, INCREDIBLE) how far it drops will be interesting to watch.

1. "Inception" - $60.4 million
2. "Despicable Me" - $32.7 million ($118.4 million total)
3. "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" - $17.4 million ($24.5 million)
4. "Twilight: Eclipse" - $13.5 million ($264.9 million)
5. "Toy Story 3" - $11.7 million ($362.7 million)
6. "Grown Ups" - $10 million ($129.3 million)
7. "The Last Airbender" - $7.5 million ($114.8 million)
8. "Predators" - $6.8 million ($40.1 million)
9. "Knight and Day" - $3.7 million ($69.2 million)
10. "The Karate Kid" - $2.2 million ($169.2 million)
