Movie News Today

If you saw "G.I. Joe" last year (like me), you've probably been thinking mean-spirited things about director Stephen Sommers ever since (like me). Well obviously our negative karma works as it appears he's walked away from the sequel.

Sam Rockwall has reunited with director Andrew Dominik and Brad Pitt ("Assassination of Jesse James") for "Cogan's Trade," which is less Westerny than "Jesse James" but no less intriguing.

A few weeks ago the trailer for Terrence Malick's "Tree of Life" debuted and left us a little unsure of just what in the world this movie about. Well the great Barry Pepper is in the movie and even he doesn't know what in the world this movie is about. I'm not sure yet if this information makes me want to see the movie more or less.

The New York Times asks if the box office success of "True Grit" will boost its success at the Academy Awards. My guess? Yes. It is peaking a time when everyone has shamefully forgotten about "Inception" and "The Social Network" has had time to come back down to earth.

Well my fellow nerds, the countdown can now officially begin: "Star Wars" will debut on Blu-Ray this September. I might finally be able to sleep tonight.
